Pilar Castrejon grew up in the dynamic city of Tijuana, in Baja California, Mexico. Receiving her BFA at San Diego State University, she is greatly influenced by her roots. She believes in a universality of the human condition, neither exclusive of borders nor regions. Working in a variety of mediums: painting, printmaking, mixed media, clay, and cement, the fusions of influences come to life. Her work De Picada is a portrayal of our violence, our disregard to delicate balances and our well-developed destructive potential. Pilar resides in Austin, Texas and has been involved in numerous art endeavors and public works.
