Born in Bolton, England, Michael Whitehead earned his B.A. at Preston Polytechnic in Preston, England and his M.F.A. at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Now a resident of Dallas and an abstract painter, Whitehead feels that the human mind, as confronted by artificial intelligence of the late twentieth century, can never do more than understand things in their particularity. Our rationalistic obsession with object/subject as image is overvalued. Whitehead gives up total image, if in fact there is one, and even the influence to the viewer’s perception of aesthetics.
