Ed Acuña was born in Berkeley, California, and received his BFA from Art Center College of Design. Herpetology has been a passion of his since early childhood. Field observation, road cruising at night, and photography influence and inspire him to create images such as Big Bend Blacktail. The Big Bend area and other locations throughout the Chihuanan Desert have a spiritual effect that stays with him through daily routines in his life. The blacktail rattlesnake is a snake commonly throughout southwest Texas that is admired for its great beauty.
